Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman

Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman presently, is the Vice Chancellor (Designate) and Professor, United International University. He has completed his M.Sc. Eng.  in Computer Science & Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology in 1992 and Ph.D. in 1996 with the Monbusho scholarship of Japanese Government  from Department of Computer Science, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan .

At present, he is also working as an external expert member of Computer Science & Eng. Departments of University of Dhaka, University of Rajshahi, Islamic University of Technology, BRAC University, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Khulna University of Science and Technology. In his teaching profession (more than 27 years), he was in Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering, United International University; Professor and Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Stamford University Bangladesh; Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). He also has vast experience in many national and international engineering projects or assignment with his excellent leadership. 

Some of his Professional Awards include “Monbusho Scholarship” awarded by Japanese Ministry of Education and Culture from 1.4.1993 to 30.9.1996 for pursuing Ph.D. at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan; IEEE AI’95 best paper award at 8th Australian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Canberra, 1995; JSPS Short Term fellowship as a Visiting Researcher at Tokyo Institute of Technology from 11.12.2000 to 11.2.2001; Visiting Professor, University of Bradford, UK from 17.10.2009 to 12.12.2009 under the EU sponsored eLINK project.

His direct involvement as coordinator with eLINK (east west Link for Innovation, Networking and Knowledge exchange) project, where five host EU institutions invited third country students, teachers and researchers to carry out 10 months study/research activities in their premises. These institutions are University of Bradford, UK, Staffordshire University, UK, Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, University of Sannio, Italy and University LUMIERE LYON2, France.

He also worked as joint coordinator in the EU sponsored cLINK (Centre of Excellence for Learning, Innovation, Networking and Knowledge) project. In this project six host EU institutions invited third country students, teachers and researchers to carry out 10/20 months study/research activities in their premises. These institutions are University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK, Staffordshire University, UK, Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, University of Bremen, Germany and University LUMIERE LYON2, France and Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Lasi, Romania.
